I've got news for you

I found what sounds like a companion piece to "Chelsea Hotel No. 2"... with the keyboards it might have fit nicely on "Dear Heather". Enjoy.

Okay, guilty for untruth in advertising. I wanted to title this post "Songs I Can Only Listen To When My Spouse Is Gone." And Steve Fitch's love song (from the album "My Album My Me") is definitely up there. What's on the list for you (insert Uncle Sam finger)?

Rush, Allan Holdsworth, Bryan Ferry, Kate Bush, Tori Amos. I think she's coming around on Ronnie James Dio though.

not a chance on the dio, sucka.

um...it used to be the smiths, but he's finally come around. how about groups i can only listen to while cleaning house? (because he will ne'er dare to stop me and risk having to do it himself): duran duran, flaming lips, fountains of wayne, and kenny rogers (exclusively tunes from 'the gambler' + 'islands in the stream' which i can sometimes get away with due to the dolly factor).

Christ - half my iPod is full of songs I can only listen to when my husband is not around. Kate Bush, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, Jonatha Brooke, any chick rock, and then there's the whole non-chick rock, non-husband approved category, like Nine Inch Nails, Sum 41, Linkin Park, Jellyfish - god damn, I loves me some jellyfish.....

Great topic. Uncle Leonard definitely makes the list. Actually, any music with baritone/bass male vocalists -- including such favorites as Tindersticks, Nick Cave, Scott Walker.... Also anything related to Suede gets the spousal thumbs down. Anything too skronky jazz-wise -- Ornette, frinstance.

Also, is Dear Heather any good? I never got that one, and I'm feeling a resurgence of love for Leonard Cohen after marveling afresh at the lyrics to Dance Me To The End Of Love. Actually, that sounds like a post....

Er, just started paying attention to the lyrics of Between Us. It's like gangsta-schmalz. Maybe it's what KVIL will sound like in 30 years....
