Bulletproof ( I wish I was)
I am creating a CD for a friend of mine who claims not to like 80's music.
This is a bit like saying that you don't like Italian food. But Bekkah and I have been devising a playlist we call bulletproof because we are trying to pick songs by familiar artists like Madonna and U2 that are so good they are "bulletproof".
We also have Message of Love by The Pretenders, Gigantic by The Pixies, How Soon Is Now by The Smiths and Black Coffee by Squeeze (or maybe Pulling Mussels from a Shell).
Any other ideas?

what about the go-gos? did we remember to include them? be they bulletproof? hmm...
and i do think there are a couple of bulletproof dittys from the cure to be considered...
I think "lovecats" is a little cutesy. All of the Cure's hits are a little cutesy.
Now, maybe it's because I never heard the song before I went to the US, but I think that Tracey Ullman one hit wonder, whatever it's called ('They Don't Know'?), is just delightful in every way.
(But it's admittedly really cutesy. So maybe you should ignore me.)
Some possibly non-bulletproof but VERY 80s suggestions: Thomas Dolby's Blinded me with Science, Psychedelic Furs' Love My Way, Men Without Hats' Safety Dance, Genius of Love or Burning Down the House.
...I mean, you gotta have SOME cheesy keyboards on an 80s mix.
I like all of those, and already had genius of love. thanks! Maybe a differnt TH's. something from remain in light?
From Remain in Light, you can go for the obvious (Once in a Lifetime), for the most underrated TH groove (Crosseyed and Painless...itunes has two great live versions), or for their most art-school-dropout-ish song (Seen and Not Seen). On other TH albums, you might consider Naive Melody or Road to Nowhere (Jeff, don't hate it just because it was a hit).
NAIVE MELODY!!!!!! ONE OF MY ALLTIME FAVES!!! (i'm screaming!)
